"Pirates of Penzance", Act II - Scenic Rendering
|
Scenic rendering for "Pirates of Penzance", Act II, at the Washington Savoyards. This version of Pirates was modeled on late Victorian illustration styles. Most of the scenery was 2-dimensional, with details applied in a pen-and-ink style, and watercolourist washes then overlayed. One humorous exception was the gargoyle's tongue on the "family escutcheon" stage left, which was a practical fiberglass slide.
